PRINTS ATTACK

Hello lovelies, hope the holidays are rosy at your end, as it's at mine?

Often times when people talk about prints, the talk is only limited to animal and/or florals, but in the real sense, prints go way past just these few ones . I will talk about some other types of prints I know, and hopefully inspire you to try other types.

Enjoy

Polka Dots

These lovely circular prints are always a delight whether worn as a dress, a top or even a skirt . I think one cant go wrong with a pinch of polka every now and then

Graphic

These prints I'm sure we are all familiar with, just might not know that's what they are called. Graphic prints could be ankara, batik, tie and dye, or any of those prints one cant really place. You know those ones that that don't really have a definite pattern or design? Yeah, those!

Tartan

Tartan prints are those ones that that have both vertical and horizontal lines crossing each other, which in the end forms some sort of box or square shaped patterns. Tartans are the symbolic national dress of the Scottish people, just as Aso oke is the Yoruba ceremonial / traditional attire

Camouflage

Think Nigerian military uniform, and yeah, you have your camo. Although I've heard ugly stories of soldiers beating up civilians who wear camo here in Nigeria, it is still considered a print. If like me, you don't like trouble, you could rock outfits or accessories with just a touch or patch of camo. On a second thought, I have seen camo in other colours besides green; those should be safe to wear here as well.

On the whole, I think prints make fashion a little more interesting; cant imagine what it would be like if we only wore plain clothes.

Most, if not all our Nigerian designers gravitate towards prints; Ituen Basi, Jewel by Lisa and Orange Nerd to name a few.

The holidays will be over by tomorrow, why not add a dash of prints into your ensemble?

Enjoy the rest of the week!
